Sub-regional Education Statistics Workshop to improve the quality of indicators for monitoring Sustainable Development Goal 4 in Caribbean
Sub-regional Education Statistics Workshop to improve the quality of indicators for monitoring Sustainable Development Goal 4 in Caribbean
The workshop will be one of several UNESCO activities agreed upon in the Road Map for Implementation of SDG 4-E2030 in Latin America and the Caribbean. These activities are meant to strengthen countries’ capacity to implement Agenda 2030.
The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) will provide technical leadership for the event attended by representatives from the ministries of education and national statistics offices of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Suriname.
The general purpose of the activity is to support Caribbean countries in their efforts to strengthen education data systems in order to monitor the SDG 4-Education 2030 agenda at the national and international level.
This workshop aims to:
- Train country representatives on existing frameworks for monitoring SDG 4 indicators and identify sources of relevant data for responding to some of the data demands arising therefrom.
- Disseminate the tools developed and made available by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics through the Capacity Development for Education Programme (CapED). These tools were designed to assess data availability and quality at the national level in order to produce diagnostics to be used in the creation of a National Strategy for the Development of Education Statistics.
The activity is possible thanks to financial support from UNESCO’s Capacity Development for Education Programme (CapED).
