The joint meeting of the Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport and the Bureau of the sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport will be hosted at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, on 3 December 2018.

It will be an occasion to analyze the outcomes of the external evaluation of the Anti-Doping Fund and to reflect on a new strategy aimed at ensuring its sustainability and at strengthening its effectiveness and efficiency.

Bureau and Committee members will focus on the outcomes of the Fund’s external evaluation in order to propose a strategy that would contribute to reinforcing the Fund and aligning it with the needs of the States Parties to the Anti-Doping Convention regarding its implementation.

The meeting agenda will also include an update on the Fund, namely its financial status and the implementation of projects financed by the Fund.

In line with the resolution 6CP/13 of the Conference of Parties, a comprehensive external evaluation of the Anti-Doping Fund was undertaken in 2018. Using a mixed-method approach, data collection included interviews, a questionnaire addressed to the States Parties, desk review of Fund documentation, and in-country visits.

The Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport was established in 2008 to assist States Parties to develop and implement efficient anti-doping projects. More than 200 national and regional projects, led by 108 States Parties from all world regions, were supported by the Fund.

The Approval Committee of the Fund (2018-2019) is currently composed of Cameroon, Chile, China, Italy, Kuwait, and the Russian Federation (Chairperson).

The Bureau of the sixth session of the Conference of Parties, chaired by Mr Mohamed Al-Konbaz (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), is composed of the Dominican Republic, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Togo and the United Kingdom of the Great Britain and the Northern Ireland (Rapporteur).
